Vegan Dance Shoes: Inside Our AIRDANCE+® Materials

Every current Pulse Dance Shoes style is vegan. The uppers are made from AIRDANCE+® materials, our premium microfiber and cotton canvas, with no animal hide in the upper. Here's what those materials are and why we chose them for dancing.

What makes a dance shoe vegan

A vegan dance shoe uses no animal hide in its upper. The material still has to do everything a dance shoe needs: bend with your foot, let air through, hold its shape and stay comfortable for a long class.

AIRDANCE+® premium microfiber

AIRDANCE+® is the name for the premium materials our uppers are built from. The main one is AIRDANCE+® premium microfiber, made from very fine synthetic fibers. On Flow 2, Flow 2 Wide and Nova, we combine tumbled and smooth-grained microfiber for a balance of suppleness, support, durability and lightness.

Lightweight

The upper adds little weight, so your feet stay quick through footwork and changes of direction.

Breathable

Air moves through the upper, so your feet stay fresher over a long session.

Flexible

Microfiber bends with your foot from the first wear, with no breaking in.

Durable and supportive

It holds its shape through regular classes and socials, and it supports your foot through turns.

Suede microfiber details

Where a design calls for a suede finish, we use AIRDANCE+® premium suede microfiber. You'll find it on the heel panel of every Nova, with an embroidered logo, and on the toe cage and heel of Flow 2 Axe, with an embroidered gold logo. It has the look and feel of suede, made without animal hide.

Volt: premium cotton canvas

Volt has a body of AIRDANCE+® premium canvas cotton, with microfiber at the heel and toe cage for support. The canvas gives Volt its lightness, flexibility and breathability, and makes it the lightest style we make.

Inside the shoe

Every style is built around our proprietary dance-engineered SPYNFLEX® sole, multi-textured for grip and glide. Inside, a removable insole sets the feel underfoot: GROOVECLOUD®, memory foam over shock-absorbing foam, in Flow 2 and Flow 2 Wide, or ORTHOFLOW®, lightweight open-cell foam, in Nova and Volt.

Looking after microfiber

Spot clean with a microfiber cloth and warm water. For tougher marks, use a little mild soap.
